Like the earth on which we live, our bodies are approximately 70 percent water (and our blood is approximately 93 percent). It seems to reason that if we subsist on polluted water, we will have a polluted terrain. Overtime, this polluted terrain (and disruption within our gentle cellular bio-electrical systems) can give rise to devastation in our bodies (i.e. degenerative diseases, cancer, premature aging, blood diseases, etc.).

The single most important thing you can do is to get your body plenty of GOOD water. The key word here of course is good. Good water simply put is alkalizing water. Ideally you will want to get 3-4 liters or approximately a gallon of alkalizing water every day. This might sound like a lot to you, but as you hydrate, you will develop more of a thirst for water. Often times feelings of hunger are in fact a cry-out from your body for good water.

You may be blessed to have our new Living Water alkalizing water system. However, if you do not yet, there are several waters on the market that have more alkalizing characteristics than others. Some of these waters are Fiji, Voss, Trinity or any other Artesian water that has a pH of 7.5 or higher. Please note the word Artesian has a legal definition in the water industry that means that this water has not been touched by human hands and/or bore taps during its bottling processes. Please note alkalizing water does not necessary have a negative ORP which has an additional anti-oxidant benefit. Yet alkalizing water is a giant leap in the right direction.

A blessing is different from a prayer.

As parents, it is critically important for us to ask God’s blessing over our children DAILY.

Although Christians have been given a method/formula in how to pray by Jesus…The Lord’s Prayer…found in the Gospel of Matthew 6:9–13, it may not be as clear how to ask for God’s blessing. However, here is a popular, yet ancient, method of how to ask for God’s blessing. You may have heard of an example of asking for God’s blessing found in 1 Chronicles 4:9-10 referred to as the “Prayer of Jabez” made popular by the book The Prayer of Jabez: Breaking Through to the Blessed Life, an inspirational book published in 2000 by Bruce Wilkinson as the first book in the “BreakThrough” book series.  This provides a good template for asking for God’s blessing over someone.  My version of how to do this is below.

Here is what I have used for years while usually physically holding/touching my sons or daughter, “Father God, I ask You to bless my beautiful son, Alex, in a powerful way. Father God I ask for your super-natural blessing over this boy. I ask that You cause him to grow in a way today, God, that is pleasing to You and that he becomes more of the servant You have created him to be. I ask that Your hand be on him and show him great favor. I ask that You give him a sword and shield to protect against and to fight-off any deception, any infliction or infirmity that would otherwise keep away from your will Father. I ask that You give Him Your wisdom and peace today. Father I ask for Your blessing in Your precious son Jesus’ name. Amen!”

Regardless of how you ask God to bless your children (and/or your spouse, your extended family, your business and etc.), it is important that you do it every day YOU would like to SEE THEM BLESSED. Of course, you can skip the days where you don’t want them blessed. (Just kidding. 🙂 This is why I suggest everyday.)

This week’s challenge is designed for you to bless your children. If you do not have children to ask a blessing over, may I suggest you ask for God’s blessing over your parents and/or siblings.

Your challenge is:

  1. Each day this week ask for God’s blessing over each one of your children/grand-children. Speak this blessing out loud and into the air. (Be loud and clear…do not be without passion…say it as though you expect God to release his favor upon your children/grand-children.) Again if you do not have children to ask a blessing over, maybe ask for God’s blessing over your parents and/or siblings instead.
  2. If they are grown or out of the house, pick AT LEAST one day (more is better) that YOU CALL THEM up and while on the phone with them (always BETTER in PERSON) just  ask if they are okay if you ask for God’s blessing over them. (If you are saying, they would never do that.  Please read below.)
  3. GET READY – THIS IS THE HARD ONE – if you have never had your mom and/or dad say a blessing over you “live and in person” while you were there in front of them, if they are still living, call them on the phone and say, “Mom/Dad, I am part of a group of men and women focusing on gratitude who are committed to becoming our personal best week-after-week. This week’s assignment is to ask if you would ask God’s blessing over me while we are on the phone…mom/dad I know it is a little weird, but could you please do that for me?” When they say, how do I do that? Just tell them, “…you are just supposed to ask God to bless me in whatever way God puts on your heart.” Keep asking until they say yes.  This is so important. Don’t let DECEPTION steal this opportunity away from you. NO MATTER what their faith or lack thereof, ask them to do this and let GOD take over from there. Let us all know what happens!!When I asked my dad to do this, after thinking I was some kind of cyclops or something weirder, he reluctantly agreed.  As he started, his voice began to quiver and then he paused and choked back tears as he finished.  Very powerful.  And even though we didn’t talk about it too much after, I know we both will remember it as something both special and powerful the rest of our lives.  Don’t  miss this chance if they are still around!

This is going to be extremely challenging for those of you who have estranged relationships from your children/adult children/parents, but DO IT ANYWAY. Remember, part of having grateful wealth is being the BEST you were created to be…REGARDLESS of how painful or difficult. Make the decision to do whatever it takes to SUCCEED AT THIS CHALLENGE. DO NOT FAIL HERE. NO EXCUSES!

Lastly, I want to encourage you to extend this challenge to include your business! You might be amazed at how HE releases His favor. Remember, God is ALWAYS ON TIME! So if you don’t get what appears to be a miraculous change in your business or relationship with your son/daughter/grandchild etc, please know that asking God to bless them is not going in vain and will prove to make an incredible impact…at the exact perfect time!

You have an emotional tank. It has a funnel that fills it and it has a drain that drains it. When your emotional tank is filled you are at your best. It is easy to be more grateful!

What fills your tank and what drains your tank?

Take a minute and get a piece of paper and a pen. Draw a square that represents your “well being” tank. Now draw a funnel that feeds into it from above and a tube out of the bottom that drains it. Things we experience daily either fill or drain our emotional tank. Psychologists have shown that when your emotional tank is filled to 100% you are at your best and being grateful is easy. When your tank drops to 75% full, you tend to experience anxiety and overwhelm and being grateful is much more difficult; at 50%, you have an emotional breakdown and at 25% a nervous breakdown and being grateful for most is virtually impossible. If this is even remotely true, the key then is to keep your tank full as close to 100% as possible.

So the question is: what fills your tank and what drains your tank?

For me, it is pretty easy to answer what fills and drains my tank. How about for you? Can you list 5 things that you know fills your tank…5 things you are grateful for? Can you list 5 things that you know drain your tank?

Does your daily rhythm (your normal routine) typically fill or drain you? Do you even have a daily rhythm that you can readily identify? If not, what would be necessary for you to get into a rhythm that is filling your tank? Yes I know you don’t have time, but what if you made the time? What if you decided you couldn’t afford (especially for those around you) for your tank to get any lower than it already is.

Here’s the secret to a more grateful fuller tank.

Have you heard of Dr. Stephen Covey’s famous term of “Sharpening the axe?” This term came from a little story about two woodcutters who challenged and bet each other to see who can cut down more trees in one day. At daybreak, the first one began furiously chopping down trees. He worked up a sweat and by noon had cut down sixteen trees. The other woodcutter only cut down four, because he took the first two hours to sharpen his axe. As he sharpened it, his challenger laughed at him knowing he was doomed to lose the bet with all that wasted and unproductive time.

That’s when things got interesting. By early afternoon, the first woodcutter’s strength (his tank) was starting to wane. It took him almost an hour to cut down one tree, all the while his challenger was picking up speed. How could this be? Certainly he was as strong as strong as the challenger. Unfortunately, strength wasn’t the most important thing anymore. It was all about whose axe was sharper. (i.e. tank was fuller) The sharper the axe – the quicker the trees came down. (i.e. the ability to stay grateful) By late afternoon, the second woodcutter who sharpened his axe had passed up his challenger by several trees and won easily. It seemed like such a waste of time to sharpen the axe earlier that day, but eventually, it had proved not only to save him time, it had brought him winning results.

In Ecclesiastes 10:10 it says: “If the axe is dull and he does not sharpen its edge, then he must exert more strength. Wisdom has the advantage of giving success.”

Your challenge is:

  1. STEP 1 – Write out 5 things that you are grateful for and that YOU KNOW fill your tank…these “sharpen your axe.”
  2. STEP 2 – Write out 5 things that YOU KNOW drain your tank.
  3. Recognize if you are in a “season” of over abundance or a season of drainage (being miserable) or neither.
  4. If you are in a relationship, share this list with your spouse or significant other and discuss how you can spend more time helping fill the other person’s tank…especially if either or both of you are in a “season” of drainage.
  5. STEP 3 – Find away to change your daily rhythm this week by doing some of the 5 things to fill your tank and fewer of 5 things that drain your tank.
  6. Reflect each night before going to bed on how you did in “sharpening your axe” by filling your tank. Also, reflect on if you provided an environment to help fill your spouse’s or significant other’s tank.

The Benefits Are Surprising, Easy And Permanent

Okay Sorry Guys!

Had you going for a minute…didn’t I?  But I have to break the news that this surprising, easy and permanent exercise for weight loss IS NOT FISHING.  It’s something that is a lot easier, a lot less expensive and can be done almost anywhere at anytime.

If you just watch your diet, but do not exercise, you may find that losing fat becomes more difficult. Your body’s internal mechanism (called a set-point) regulates the amount of body fat it keeps. When your body experiences a drop in calories such as in dieting, it can simply adjust the base metabolic rate (BMR) so it can use calories more efficiently. Thus, as your BMR dives lower and lower, as soon as your diet is broken, you will find yourself gaining back more body fat faster and easier than before! Ouch!

If you want to change this “set-point” back to a more “youthful” setting YOU HAVE TO EXERCISE TO LOSE WEIGHT in addition to watching your diet. Physical exercise is the only known way to lower your set-point and raise your BMR (i.e. metabolism) and thereby effectively programming your body to store less fat than it did before. Exercising aerobically can give your body oxygen, burn fat as fuel, and help make the greatest impact on your metabolism.

In the 1970s, two prominent physicians authored The Neuropsychology of Weight Control. They discovered that walking outside at a steady pace for up to one hour per day helped reset the body’s weight set point, making people lean and healthier. Walking (as an aerobic exercise to lose weight) may be difficult with your busy schedule, and yet may give you the most dramatic effect in helping you not only become more fit, but indeed more healthy. Walking (or rebounding on a mini- trampoline) aerobically can help reset your “normal” metabolic rate and return you to a more youthful calorie utilization and distribution of body fat.

You will not lose body fat permanently and healthfully unless you reset your set point.

Now that your body should be more alkaline and hydrated from early blog post on the importance of alkaline water, You need to start daily exercising aerobically OR do weight-training OR do compound-body training that keeps you  in the fat-burning aerobic zone while you exercise to lose weight.

This week’s challenge is designed to show you how to exercise to lose weight in a certain way..

Your challenge is:

  1. Use common sense and be responsible. If you have not exercised in years and/or have been unhealthy, please seek medical advice to determine if you are healthy enough for walking and/or other aerobic exercise. You have to be responsible when it comes to your health and do the right thing.
  2. Determine your approximate Aerobic Training Zone (ATZ) by using this approximation method. If you are fit and healthy, to find your ATZ take 190 minus your Age; if you are average in your fitness and health, take 180 minus your age; if you have been sick and/or are obese (30 pounds over normal for your height/age), take 160 minus your age. This number will be representative of your ATZ heart rate.
  3. WHILE IN YOUR ATZ, exercise to lose weight. Walk or weight train and compound-body train for a minimum of 30, but no more than 60 minutes EACH DAY. Take the first 5-10 minutes to get your heart-rate up to your ATZ. A fast and modern way is to use a watch that monitors your heart rate finger probes. A simple, inexpensive (FREE) low-tech way is to give yourself a 15 second break at 5 and 10 minutes every 10 minutes thereafter to count your pulse (counting your pulse for 15 seconds). You will then multiply this number times 4. This will give you an approximate heart-rate.
  4. Finish your dinner at least 3 hours before the time you go to bed. This means no eating or drinking carbohydrate or juices (anything with sugar or artificial sweeteners) during this three and a half hours. ONE EXCEPTION, if you are hungry prior to bed, you can eat a fist sized portion of high quality protein such as wild caught salmon, organic turkey, chicken etc. This can actually help stimulate your metabolism and can help burn fat while you sleep.

Trusting God!

So you say you believe in God…right? Okay, well do you trust Him…really trust Him? If you said yes, then why do you worry…about anything?

If you decide for God, living a life of God-worship, it follows that you don’t fuss about what’s on the table at mealtimes or whether the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to him than birds.

Has anyone by fussing in front of the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch? All this time and money wasted on fashion—do you think it makes that much difference? Instead of looking at the fashions, walk out into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They never primp or shop, but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them.

If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think He’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What if you just relaxed instead of being so preoccupied with “getting,” so you can respond to God’s “giving.” People who don’t know God and the way He works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how He works. So stop worrying! Instead, soak your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Stop worrying. If you do, you’ll quickly discover all your everyday human concerns will be met…perfectly, right on time…His time.

Yes, I know. Stop worrying is easier said than done!  And let’s face it anyway. Unless you stop being human, you will worry…at least a little. However, when you radically accept that worrying is nothing more than NOT TRUSTING GOD, you may find it easier to stop worrying the more you seek to trust God in all things! As you do, you will begin to understand the negative power worrying has in taking away from your created intent. Said differently, worrying is a powerful form of goal setting…just in reverse. Think about it. In your own life, you will probably agree that worrying has done very little to contribute constructively to your life AND in fact, has taken much away…time, money, relationships, enjoyment, etc.

The key to stop worrying is simpleHERE IS THAT SENTENCE:  Starting now, (As in yes right now!) seek GOD as frequently as you can (even hourly) until actively seeking (trusting) becomes a part of your DNA and you become a chronic GOD SEEKER…and then watch what happens…OH MY!

Your challenge is:

  • Recite the following statement 3 times a day or more.
  • Father God, show me favor. Give me the strength to TRUST YOU COMPLETELY right now and to STOP WORRYING ABOUT ANYTHING!  YOU love me and YOU are covering me in ALL things. YOU are growing me God in YOUR will and I commit to SEEK TO PLEASE YOU DAILY as YOU GROW ME INTO MORE! I know YOU HAVE A NEW SEASON of VICTORY in store for me just ahead…and I will do MY part to make it through. God I love YOU so very much and I trust YOU, YOUR TIMING AND YOUR PLAN FOR ME!

Thirds Eating is a simple eating concept for optimum health, healthy eating and shedding unwanted fat. Here is how it works. You imagine whenever you eat that your plate is divided into thirds. (think Mercedes logo) You will put: 1.) Lean good-quality protein on the first third (serving size no bigger THAN YOUR FIST); 2.) Green leafy vegetables on the second third (the darker the better); 3.) Low-glycemic carbohydrates on the last third. (serving size no bigger than your FIST! YOUR FIST IS THE SECRET! It is perfectly sized to keep you from overeating and burning more fat!)

Healthy eating for a leaner you is fairly easy this way, even if you are at a restaurant. Heck, you could, if you had to, even eat at a fast food restaurant this way…and lose and not gain fat.

PROTEIN – the best quality protein for healthy eating is from best to worst, Alaskan wild-caught salmon, organic turkey, organic chicken and very lean organic red meat. You can choose other options from there, but these are the best. If YOU ARE VEGAN or VEGETARIAN, the best quality proteins for healthy eating are almonds (organic almond butter) and black walnuts. Believe it or not ounce for ounce these have as much protein as sirloin steak.

GREEN LEAFY VEGETABLES – The darker green is better for healthy eating. The darker the more vitamins, minerals and photochemical alkaloids are present. My favorites are 1.) Baby Spinach; 2.) Baby Spinach; 3.) Baby Spinach. Here is how to eat it. Cut it up a zillion times so it is chopped finely…and add a little lime or lemon or lime juice. If you are anti-Popeye, just choose your favorite dark-green vegetable for maximum healthy eating and have at it.

LOW-GLYCEMIC CARBOHYDRATES (less than 55 on the gylcemic index) – basically low-glycemic carbs are slow burning and your body will use them up slowly without metabolizing them into sugars and storing them as yucky fat. The only time you should ever eat high-glycemic carbs is after you have a super intense workout or run/walk. Why, because your body will gobble them up in its desire to replenish itself. Otherwise for healthy eating, stick to low-glycemic carbs PERIOD. (FOR HEALTHY EATING A LIST OF LOW-GLYCEMIC CARBOHYDRATES ARE AT THE END OF THIS CHALLENGE)

Now combine Thirds Eating with Alkaline water and you are ready to ROCK! You will say, “LORD! We are doing an extreme makeover on the old temple this week…move that bus!!!

In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 it says: Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

Your challenge is:

  1. Eat your 3 main meals each day this week using Thirds Eating.
  2. Eat a snack of either protein OR low-glycemic carbs between breakfast and lunch and lunch and dinner.
  3. If your body starts screaming at you to eat high-glycemic carbohydrates, just remember when it comes to healthy eating, don’t be fooled. It’s just the “rats in the temple.” (The “rats” are yeast overgrowth. 90% of the population has yeast overgrowth and it needs sugar…carbs to feed! Chances are you have it…especially if you find yourself craving carbs…sugar.). This is what is screaming at your to “feed me” , “feed me!” DON’T LISTEN. They are rats trying to pollute your temple!!!
  4. Diabetics stay on top of your blood sugar closely while doing this.
  5. Drink at least 2 liters of alkaline water each day
  6. PREPARE TO LOOK AND FEEL MARVELOUS!!
